What's new in colour trends this year

When Pantone worked out what the interior colours for the 2020 year were they couldn't have known what a crazy new world we would be living in. The colours tend to be worked out years/seasons in advance.

How did they know that we would be spending a LOT of time indoors looking at our interiors. How did they know we would need something soothing and restful! They didn't but boy we need that.

The interior decor colours for 2020 are soft pastel and muddy, calming and kind, this restful palette expressive of watercolour waterfalls and nature is never irritating, yet you can create drama in contrasts of light and dark shades of the same palette.

You will see soft moss grey greens, faded denim blues, washed out lilac and smokey pinks. Earthy teals and aquas with undertones of grey also feature strongly. Contrast these colours with darker charcoal grey, Navy blues and indigo, or deep aubergine purples.

Luckily all these colours work harmoniously together, as long as they are all muddy and greyed out. There is no room for bright clear colours this season if you want to be on trend.
